Girls Rock Milwaukee

This past weekend we ventured out to Milwaukee for a musical rock concert.  No, it was not anyone popular but rather young ladies from all over the state (and some from out of state) who were to put on a concert for their family & friends. For the past week these young ladies have been working on learning a new instrument, forming a band, designing their band’s banner and of course writing and singing a song that they wrote together.  This was all for the 2nd Annual Girls Rock Milwaukee.  This is the second year we have attended as a dear friend’s daughter has been in it.  Last year was the first year for both her and the Milwaukee chapter.

Their missions and goals align with Girls Rock Camp Alliance (GRCA). CRCA is an international group that focuses on empowering young ladies, from building self esteem to finding their voices, all through the powers of musical education, positive role models and working together in social and collaboration workshops.

Girls Rock Milwaukee’s The Crayon Room Band Preforming

It was a blast see all of the young ladies preform with their rock bands and the interesting lyrics and interaction with the crowd at Turner Hall.

JUST ANNOUNCED:  Ladies Rock Milwaukee will be in Jan 2015 for three days.  Get ready to rock it!

We’re excited to see what the 2015 bands bring.
